Similar to the steps inserting a fraction in the word file, please follow the steps below to insert an equation in the word document: 1. Microsoft Word does support writing mathematical equation using LaTex. If you want to create a custom keystroke, use the instructions in Word Help on the subject: Insert an equation. ![]() Step 4: Type the symbols from the Design tab that you want to insert in the equation. Step 1: Click the "Insert" tab from the ribbon Step 2: Click "Equation" in the "Symbols" section Step 3: Type the equation in the equation box which appears in the word file Step 4: Click anywhere outside of the box to finish. An Insert equation here box will appear on the screen. Using them you can quickly type variety of arrows, set symbols, partial, nabla, degree C, angle, etc. Whether using Word, PowerPoint, Pages, Keynote, or Numbers, after you build the equation, close the MathType window (either the X in the upper right for Windows, or the red dot in the upper left for Mac) to insert the equation into the document.
